Breaking News: Current AEW champion attacked at recent event
An AEW Champion has just been jumped following one of his matches at a recent event by someone highly interested in going after their title. This would be Konosuke Takeshita who was attacked by Ricochet.
The Alpha captured the International Championship last week at AEW WrestleDream after a three-way between himself, Will Ospreay, and Ricochet. The Don Callis Family got involved and helped Takeshita win his first title since signing with the company.
This weekend, Konosuke Takeshita made an appearance at Maple Lead Pro Wrestling, as he put his title on the line twice against the likes of Mike Bailey and Josh Alexander.
After tonight's match against Alexander, he continued attacking him post-match, but Ricochet suddenly came out. The former WWE Superstar has recently mentioned how things weren't finished between him and the Japanese star and that he'd come for the title.
He ran into the ring and briefly brawled with Takeshita before sending him out of the ring. He then picked up the AEW International Championship and raised it, a sign of what he wanted next - the International Title.
With Full Gear taking place next month, this feud between the two stars could push till then, where they can once more settle things in the ring and prove who the rightful champion should be.
