Brian Cage teases blockbuster match against former AEW World Champion

Brian Cage has teased a massive bout against a former AEW World Champion on social media. The star in question is none other than Kenny Omega.

The Machine is widely regarded as one of the most underrated stars in pro wrestling, having impressed fans with his impressive blend of power and agility across several promotions, including PWG, Lucha Underground, Lucha Libre AAA, and TNA. He signed with AEW in 2020, debuting as a member of Team Taz at the Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View. He is currently a member of Cage of Agony, alongside Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona, with whom he has held the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

Brian Cage recently shared an intriguing picture on X/Twitter, posting an edited photograph of himself and former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and seemingly hinted a future clash between the two. His caption further revealed Cage's interest in squaring off against The Best Bout Machine.

"Can't wait...." wrote Cage.

Kenny Omega has been on the shelf since last year due to severe diverticulitis. Although he did appear on an episode of Dynamite in May, he was viciously assaulted by members of The New Elite. The Cleaner has not appeared on AEW programming since revealing that The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry would face FTR and two other wrestlers representing All Elite Wrestling in an Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing 2024.

According to a recent report, the 40-year-old star underwent surgery on May 16, and will thus miss out on the company's upcoming pay-per-view, All In 2024.

AEW's Brian Cage is open to facing former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is held by many to be one of the most dominant figures in pro wrestling history. However, The Beast Incarnate has not been seen in the squared circle since his loss to Cody Rhodes at Summerslam 2023 owing to allegations that emerged alluding to his involvement in legal matters relating to former WWE head honcho Vince McMahon.

Last month on X/Twitter, AEW star Brian Cage invited fans to choose between Kenny Omega and Brock Lesnar as an opponent that they would like to see him go toe-to-toe with. When one user picked The Next Big Thing, Cage voiced his excitement at the idea of facing off against Lesnar, especially the version of the former Universal Champion from 2002.

"2002 Brock would be so much fun," he replied.

Brian Cage was last seen competing on Collision last week, where he and Lee Moriarty teamed up to take on Top Flight and the duo of Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in a three-way tag match. The Blackpool Combat Club members picked up the win in the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
