Britt Baker’s close friend reveals the truth about rumored backstage incident with MJF

A close friend of Britt Baker recently shed some light on the latter's rumored backstage incident with MJF. The talent in question is Deonna Purrazzo.

Controversy has continued to follow AEW after reports emerged regarding a backstage confrontation between Britt Baker, MJF, and the latter's partner, Alicia Atout, which eventually led to The DMD being suspended. The former AEW Women's World Champion returned to Dynamite this week, firing off against and sending a bold message to Mercedes Mone weeks ahead of their TBS Championship bout at All In 2024.

While fans continue to speculate regarding the backstage environment of the Tony Khan-led promotion, Britt Baker's friend Deonna Purrazzo came to her defense in an interview. During a conversation with Stephanie Chase, Purrazzo claimed that the reported conflict involving Baker and MJF was an "isolated" incident that did not reflect the general ambiance of the company's locker room, which she described as supportive and helpful.

"I think this was just one instance that sparked a lot of drama, and also kind of took on a life of its own. The rumor mill starts going and things aren't as they were. People add their two cents and it makes it way bigger than it was. I think this was an isolated incident because everything else that I've experienced in this locker room is supportive, encouraging, is a lot of camaraderie."

The Virtuosa went on to elaborate on her experience with AEW's locker room, stating:

"We just recently celebrated people's birthdays and had birthday cakes and sang. I feel this locker room doesn't get as much credit as it deserves for that type of camaraderie. I don't know what it was like before. I can only speak to my experiences, but I feel like it doesn't get enough credit as it deserves." [H/T Fightful]

Deonna Purrazzo is currently embroiled in a feud with Thunder Rosa and is scheduled to face the latter in a Texas Bull Rope match next week on Collision.

MJF emerged victorious on AEW Dynamite against Kyle Fletcher

On the August 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF took on Kyle Fletcher in an American Championship Eliminator Match. Although the latter put on an excellent performance against The Wolf of Wrestling, he came up short against the champion due to a distraction caused by Don Callis, tossing a screwdriver for Fletcher to use against Friedman, which the Australian star refused to do.

MJF utilized the distraction to hit a low blow on Fletcher, eventually pinning him following a devastating brainbuster. Friedman proceeded to knock out the referee after the match and bust Fletcher open with his Dynamite Diamond Ring.

He also nearly planted Fletcher with a Tiger Driver 91 before Will Ospreay made the save for his friend.

MJF will defend his American Title against Ospreay at AEW All In 2024. It will be interesting to see who emerges victorious.
