Brutal AEW assault leaves star writhing in pain in the middle of the ring

A budding AEW star was brutally assaulted in the ring on the latest episode of Dynamite. The talent being alluded to, HOOK, is seeking revenge against The Patriarchy and Christian Cage.

It was in October that All Elite announcer Taz was assaulted in the parking lot ahead of Dynamite, which drove his son HOOK to hunt down the perpetrators behind the attack. Examining the security footage led The Cold Hearted Handsome Devil to learn that the assailants were none other than The Patriarchy.

Christian Cage later confirmed his involvement in taking out Taz and expressed his interest in mentoring HOOK and gaining him as an ally. The latter, however, did not reciprocate the interest and even attacked Nick Wayne to prevent his interference during The Patriarch's tag team match in November.

The Prodigy has since called HOOK out to face him at the Hammerstein Ballroom later this month. On the December 4 episode of AEW Dynamite, the former FTW Champion stated that he wanted to face his "father" Christian Cage in New York instead, to exact vengeance on him on behalf of Taz.

HOOK called out Wayne to fight him that very night, which led to The Instant Classic making his way to the ring with Shayne Wayne. HOOK would be jumped by Nick and Kip Sabian, however, and despite trying to fight back, he would be overwhelmed by The Patriarchy's numbers advantage. As his so-called sons held HOOK down, Christian then delivered a vicious con-chair-to on the up-and-coming star's hand, leaving him in agony.

It remains to be seen how HOOK will retaliate against The Patriarchy moving forward on AEW programming.
