"Bryan Danielson came up to me afterward" - Top AEW star recalls overwhelming backstage reaction to WWE match

AEW star Bryan Danielson knows the wrestling business well and never shies away from appreciating top-quality matches. During his time with WWE, Bryan had an amazing reaction after fellow star Mercedes Mone's match against Carmella.

In December 2020, AEW star Mercedes Mone successfully defended her SmackDown Women's Championship against Carmella at the WWE TLC PPV event. The erstwhile Sasha Banks recently recalled the match in her digital magazine.

In the recent Mone Mag Newsletter, Mercedes Mone revealed that the reception of her match against Carmella was amazing. The CEO said that Bryan Danielson came up to her after the match to show appreciation and praised the match. Mone looks forward to seeing if she clashes with Carmella again in the future.

"The feedback we received after that match was overwhelming. Bryan Danielson came up to me afterward and told me how much he enjoyed it. Hearing praise from someone with his caliber meant the world to me. Backstage, everyone was talking about our performance, and it felt amazing to know that we had made an impact. Working with Carmella was everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s funny how the universe works, bringing us together when the timing was just right. I can’t wait to see where our paths lead us next, but I’ll always cherish those moments we finally got to share in the ring."

AEW star Mercedes Mone claims the match against Carmella was incredible

The 2020 TLC pay-per-view event was stacked with matchups like Drew McIntyre versus AJ Styles and The Miz for the WWE Championship, Randy Orton versus The Fiend Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Inferno match, Kevin Owens versus Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, and more.

In the recent Mone Mag Newsletter, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone made a bold claim about her match against Carmella at the PPV. She claimed that it was the match of the night and called it an incredible contest despite no fans being in attendance.

"Our first pay-per-view match together was nothing short of incredible. Even without the electric energy of the fans, I truly felt that we delivered the match of the night. We had such great chemistry, and it was clear that we both brought our A-game. At one point, I remember looking over at her, and we shared a moment of mutual respect and excitement. It was a blast!"

Carmella is currently off WWE television. We will have to wait and see if the former Women's Champion makes her return in 2025.
