Bryan Danielson claims WWE didn't allow former champion to enter the ring at WrestleMania 30
WWE and AEW have both featured memorable moments for Bryan Danielson, known as Daniel Bryan during his time with the Stamford-based promotion. After his recent world championship victory, the ring veteran reflected on WrestleMania XXX and claimed that Brie Bella was not allowed to enter the ring.
The American Dragon became the AEW World Champion by dethroning Swerve Strickland at All In last month, with his career on the line. The win came in front of almost 50,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London. Bryan was cheered on by his family in the front row: wife Brie Bella, daughter Birdie, and son Buddy.
The post-match celebration featured Bryan's family and now-former stablemates as confetti fell and fireworks went off. Ten years and almost five months before All In, he defeated Batista and Randy Orton in the WrestleMania XXX main event to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in front of around 60,000 fans at the Superdome in New Orleans.
The celebration after his win also included confetti and fireworks, but only Bryan's sister, Billie Sue, and his nieces briefly entered the ring. Mr. Small Package was not a father when WrestleMania XXX happened, but Brie was backstage for the match at the Gorilla Position.
In a new interview with Undisputed's Justin Barrasso, the 25-year industry veteran discussed the All In and WrestleMania moments. He also revealed that WWE officials told his wife to stay in the back during the post-match celebration.
"The moments were both super cool. My sister and my nieces got to come in the ring with me at WrestleMania. Brie was in Gorilla, and she was told not to come out. That was a little odd to me. This one at Wembley, I was overflowing with joy and gratitude. My son loves when I powerbomb him at the house. If I won, he said he wanted me to powerbomb him in the ring. I was going to, but he was too busy chasing the confetti. It was magic all the way around," Bryan Danielson said.
Danielson ended up leaving WWE in May 2021. Meanwhile, Brie ended her full-time run in April 2016 but has made a few appearances since then. She and her sister Nikki Bella were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020 as The Bella Twins.
Bryan Danielson to face former WWE commentator
Bryan Danielson captured the AEW World Championship at All In last month. He then retained over Jack Perry at All Out on September 7 and has not wrestled since then as The Blackpool Combat Club turned on him in a violent post-match attack.
The historic feud between Danielson and Nigel McGuinness is set to continue on Dynamite: Grand Slam special on September 25. The storyline behind the non-title match has to do with Danielson's health, and AEW has announced that the match will only happen if the champion is medically cleared.
Danielson's status for WrestleDream on October 12 has not been confirmed. He is expected to defend against Darby Allin soon due to Allin's recent Royal Rampage win. Grand Slam will also see Allin put his guaranteed title shot on the line against Jon Moxley, which could set up Moxley vs. Danielson.
