Bryan Danielson is majorly responsible for a female star's return to the ring
Fans of professional wrestling are well aware of Bryan Danielson's role in popularising technical wrestling in the modern era. The 43-year-old signed for AEW in 2021, however, he is best known for his extraordinary run in WWE, where he held accolades such as the WWE Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship, the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and more.
Interestingly, during the mid-2000s Danielson, performed in ROH (Ring of Honor). This wrestling company was purchased by Tony Khan more than two years ago and has since operated as AEW's sister promotion. ROH currently has an impressive roster and one of its most important PPV events is Death Before Dishonor.
Death Before Dishonor 2024, was a memorable show as it had several amazing moments and also, saw the crowning of new champions. One of the best matches of the night was Red Velvet vs. Billie Starkz, where the former picked up the victory and became the new ROH Women's World Television Champion. Just like most in-ring performers, Velvet has had problems with injuries, for which she got sidelined for months. However, due to her resilience, she has reached where she is right now.
In the media scrum following the show, the 32-year-old revealed that Bryan Danielson played a major role in her comeback. Additionally, she thanked Tony Khan for believing in her.
"I've just been working with so many people. I had to thank Bryan Danielson. He's been like a huge part of my comeback, and investing in me and seeing what I can do and believing in me. I can thank everybody, Tony Khan, all these people so. That list will go on," said Velvet.
Jim Ross called Bryan Danielson AEW's locker room leader
In a recent episode of Grilling JR with Jim Ross, the legendary commentator called Danielson AEW's locker room leader. Additionally, he revealed that many stars of the Tony Khan-led promotion look up to the former WWE Champion.
"I think the locker room leader at least for my money is Daniel Bryan [Bryan Danielson]. He's kind of the rock, not Dwayne Johnson, but he is kind of the solid piece. And does a great job there leading. I know he dressed in the announcer's dressing room over the weekend and it's amazing how many talents rely on Daniel for advice, council, and motivation. And he's always got time."
Bryan Danielson will face Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at All In 2024.
