Bryan Danielson makes a big confession about Roman Reigns' creative direction

Roman Reigns made his return at SummerSlam 2020 as a heel, in what many would call a game-changing event. This happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was a massive blow to several companies across the globe, and things for WWE were no different. Interestingly, the promotion adjusted to the circumstances and introduced the ThunderDome, a bio-secure bubble that lasted from August 2020 to July 2021.

The ThunderDome era now seems like a fever dream, however, on analyzing it, fans can recall several memorable moments from that time. Some of them are Roman Reigns' return as a heel, the Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton feud, Sasha Banks vs. Bayley at Hell in a Cell, and more. One of the names who regularly performed in the ThunderDome was AEW star, Bryan Danielson.

In a recent conversation with the Gorilla Position podcast, the four-time WWE Champion opened up on wresting in the bio-secure bubble and revealed that he loved its unique experience. Additionally, he realized its benefits when Reigns made his villainous return.

"I loved it. Because it was different. I liken it to the difference between theater and cinema, right? What we traditionally do is more like theater. But what we had to do during the pandemic was cinema ... When Roman came back, I was like, he understood the benefits. You lose some things, but you gain some things. He understood the trade-off, and the direction he went was genius," said Danielson. (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
