Bryan Danielson reveals real reason why he rejected WWE and chose AEW
Former WWE Champion Bryan Danielson recently opened up about leaving WWE to join AEW. The American Dragon was a Grand Slam Champion in the Stamford-based promotion.
In 2021, Bryan Danielson shocked the world by leaving the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut after ten years and debuting for All Elite Wrestling. Since then, The American Dragon has renewed some rivalries from his past and had dream matchups in AEW against the likes of MJF, Will Ospreay, and more. Bryan is set to retire from full-time competition later this year.
Speaking with 6abc, The American Dragon explained why All Elite Wrestling attracted him more as opposed to the Stamford-based promotion.
"One of the things that drew me to AEW and why I kind of wanted to come to AEW: It’s that AEW is a wrestling-first company; it’s a wrestling company for wrestling fans. Sometimes WWE is more just based on general entertainment where they want to reach as many casual viewers as possible, where I think AEW is like 'hey, if you love wrestling, here’s this.'" Former WWE Superstar Bryan Danielson heaps praise on Jon Moxley
The American Dragon and Jon Moxley are part of The Blackpool Combat Club along with Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in All Elite Wrestling. Speaking in an interview with Sports Illustrated, Bryan Danielson praised Moxley and claimed that he was among the best wrestlers in the world. The veteran stated that there will never be another Jon Moxley.
"Mox did this, he created this. He has a mindset unlike anyone else. There will never be another Jon Moxley. There is no one like him. To me, he is among the very best in the world. I’m super proud of Mox. But it’s less pride I feel, and more admiration. I admire what he’s been able to do. I admire the risks he’s taken and the performances he puts in every single time he goes out there." [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
Jon Moxley is the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. It will be interesting to see who steps up to challenge Mox at the Forbidden Door PPV.
