Bryan Danielson seemingly out of AEW Grand Slam this year

Bryan Danielson will seemingly not be wrestling the match he was expected to wrestle at AEW Grand Slam 2024. His previously scheduled opponent for the event had been Darby Allin, who earned a shot at the AEW World Title earlier this year after he won the Royal Rampage match.

The American Dragon suffered a major heartbreak after his former Blackpool Combat Club teammates Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli turned on him after he retained his AEW World Title against Jack Perry at All Out 2024. The Purveyor of Violence had his much-anticipated meeting with Darby Allin - whom he had been calling out over the past couple of weeks - on the September 11, 2024, episode of Dynamite.

After the former TNT Champion blasted him for his betrayal of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley stated that his former stable-mate would be indisposed for Dynamite: Grand Slam, implying he may not wrestle on the show. He went on to ask Allin to hand him the AEW World Championship opportunity he had earned for the upcoming event by winning the 2024 Royal Rampage.

The 31-year-old star refused and dared the former International Champion to earn the title shot. Moxley then challenged Darby to put his world championship opportunity on the line at Grand Slam, which Allin accepted. The segment confirmed that Danielson will not defend his title against Allin at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, although he may appear on the show in some other capacity, possibly confronting Moxley for turning on him.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bryan Danielson in All Elite Wrestling.
