Bully Ray details how he would revamp major ongoing AEW storyline
AEW programming has picked up a lot of momentum since Jon Moxley won the World Championship and turned heel. However, wrestling veteran Bully Ray recently envisioned a different story that would position The Purveyor of Violence as a heroic figure.
Since debuting in AEW five years ago, Jon Moxley has been one of the most reliable top stars of the Tony Khan-led promotion. However, he has been on the warpath lately against the All Elite roster alongside his Blackpool Combat Club allies, albeit supposedly with the company's best interests in mind.
On a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said that he would have presented the reigning AEW World Champion as a heroic character representing and defending the Jacksonville-based promotion, as opposed to his current antagonistic characterization.
"If I was booking this, Moxley would have never been the top heel in the story," Ray said. "Moxley would have been the savior. Moxley should have been the savior of this company because of the passionate promos he has cut about AEW, from where he started in CZW, to being a top guy in WWE, to not wanting to be there anymore, to believing in [All Elite Wrestling], blah, blah, blah, came over with his wife. You can incorporate all of that. If anybody is going to spill blood for [All Elite Wrestling], it should have been Jon Moxley."
Ray further suggested that The House of Black could serve as the top villainous heel faction instead of The BCC.
"When you see those three men [House of Black] together, you tell me who else in that company could take on those three men? Not Moxley, not Claudio, not PAC, not nobody," Ray said. "Those three guys would knock everybody into next Thursday." [H/T - Wrestling Inc]
Tommy Dreamer on AEW babyfaces who can stand up to The BCC
On the same episode of Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer discussed potential names who could oppose the recent carnage of The BCC.
The ECW legend brought up former Continental Champion Eddie Kingston in light of his history with Jon Moxley, as well as WWE Hall of Famer Sting, who was a thorn in the side of heel stables like The Four Horsemen and The NWO back in the day.
"Eddie Kingston is great, if he's able to go. I mean, also, Sting. Sting can show back up, not be a wrestler, rally the troops... Sting was part of two waves, he was part of fighting off The Horsemen, he was part of fighting off The NWO, he was a main part of that, he could be like, 'Guys, I've lived here before,'" said Dreamer. While speculations suggest that Darby Allin could be the one to finally dethrone Moxley for his World Title, recent developments indicate that Orange Cassidy will also likely go after Moxley and his team on AEW television.
