"Careless, egotistical and inhumane" - Serious accusations made against AEW
AEW is hours away from presenting its fifth annual Holiday Bash Dynamite, and days away from the big debut at Hammerstein Ballroom. However, the company was just hit with troubling accusations by a former member of the All Elite extended family.
BJ Whitmer began his career in 2000, and most notably had two successful ROH runs. He joined All Elite Wrestling in January 2019 but was fired in June 2023 after being arrested on one charge of first-degree strangulation and one count of second-degree burglary.
Tony Khan released Whitmer at the time of his arrest in June 2023, noting in a statement that his behavior was intolerable within the company. Media reports referred to Whitmer as a coach and creative advisor at the time. This past March, Whitmer accepted an Alford plea for his charges. He was sentenced to five years of probation, and 120 days of house arrest.
Whitmer's ex-girlfriend, who remained anonymous at the time of his arrest, has since come forward as Jaime Hawn. Hawn launched a GoFundMe campaign today to help raise money for what she described as a family in crisis.
In her GoFundMe description, Hawn blamed AEW as a company, and Chris Peck, who is a member of the Jacksonville-based promotion's Legal Counsel.
"With a heavy and humbled heart, this plea of help comes from a now homeless mother of three, as a result of careless, egotistical and inhumane actions of AEW (All Elite Wrestling) and Chris Peck, a member of AEW's inside legal counsel. I will do my best to explain the pure catastrophic destruction Chris Peck’s behavior has had on my life since September 2023," Jaime Hawn wrote.
Hawn went on to allege that Peck single-handedly impacted the outcome of the criminal case against Whitmer. AEW has not publicly responded to the remarks as of this writing.
