Chris Jericho ambushes top star in non-AEW promotion

Chris Jericho recently attacked a top AEW star during his appearance on a different promotion. The talent in question is Orange Cassidy.

The Freshly Squeezed has emerged as one of AEW's most popular characters over the years. Cassidy has re-kindled his rivalry with Chris Jericho as of late, with the latter demanding that the former International Champion pay him a hefty sum for destroying his jacket during their feud in 2020, going so far as to steal his iconic backpack as leverage. This week on Dynamite, the inaugural AEW World Champion called out Cassidy to compensate him for his jacket once again. The 40-year-old star would oblige in his own unique fashion as he directed his teammates from The Conglomeration, Mark Briscoe and Kyle O'Reilly, to seemingly dump seven thousand dollars worth of coins onto Jericho's Bentley convertible with a front loader.

The Learning Tree, alongside his acolyte Big Bill, recently exacted revenge on Orange Cassidy outside of AEW, assaulting the latter in the middle of his backstage promo at CMLL's 91st Anniversary Show in Arena Mexico.

Cassidy and Jericho are scheduled to lock horns next week on Dynamite.

AEW star Chris Jericho wants to compete in CMLL more

Chris Jericho is set to face the legendary luchador, Mistico, at CMLL's 91st Anniversary event on September 13, 2024. The Lionheart, who had competed in the Mexico City-based promotion prolifically in the early and mid-1990s, recently expressed his desire to return to and perform for the company as much as he may be able to. He also voiced his wish to compete in a mask vs. hair match and reflected on his history in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).

"Yeah, I remember. I think I wrestled Atlantis at the first Grand Prix, if I remember correctly. Once again, I have such a great story and such a great history in Mexico that it makes perfect sense to come back to wrestle as much as I can. I would love to be in the Grand Prix, and I would love to do a mask versus hair match. All of the things that I’ve done in Mexico in the past, I would love to return to again. It’s amazing to me that it took 30 years to return to Arena México," Chris Jericho said. [H/T POST Wrestling]

It remains to be seen whether Chris Jericho will pick up the victory over Orange Cassidy on Dynamite this coming week.
