Chris Jericho dons mask and makes a big announcement three decades in the making
Chris Jericho recently made a big announcement online, which was 30 years in the meeting. He did it while wearing a luchador mask.
On June 28, The Ocho appeared surprisedly at CMLL's Arena Mexico event and attacked Mistico. He then laid out a challenge for the Mexican star, which the latter accepted. The Lionheart has a history in Lucha Libre. He worked in the promotion between 1993 and 1995 under the moniker Corazón de León and even held the NWA World Middleweight Championship. He hasn't been in the promotion since 1995.
CMLL on X shared a video featuring Y2J cutting a promo while wearing a mask. He challenged Mistico to the 91st Anniversary show on September 13 at Arena Mexico! He will be returning to the promotion after three decades.
Chris Jericho mentioned that he was fed up with hearing people say that Mistico is the greatest and most popular luchador ever.
"When I returned to Arena Mexico Mistico after 30 years, there was a reason for that. All I ever hear is how Mistico is the greatest luchador of all time and how Mistico is the most popular Luchador ever. But that's not true. Cause 30 years ago, when Corazón de León was in Arena Mexico, I was the most popular Luchador. I was the best Luchador in the country ever."
The Learning Tree wants to prove he is the best luchador and better than the 41-year-old Mexican star.
"And of all the things I have done in this business, of all the places I've been, I have to prove to you that I am better than you. It's been driving me crazy just thinking about it for years and years and years, and finally, the time came just a few weeks ago when I was able to enter Arena Mexico in secret and beat the hell out of you," Chris Jericho said.
Chris Jericho on his potential retirement plans
Chris Jericho has appeared on The McGuire Show. In the interview, he discussed his potential retirement plans.
Le Champion stated that he hasn't planned to hang up his wrestling boots yet as he is enjoying his time in AEW.
"I'll know when it’s time, you know? I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and I’m still contributing at a high level, I can still have the best match on the show on any given night — not every night but any given night. And I just really love what we’re doing with AEW right now. So there’s really no rush on that. And when I know, I’ll know," Jericho said.
The 53-year-old veteran entered the wrestling business in the early 90s. He was just 19 when he began training for the ring. In all these years, he has been in almost every top promotion around the world, including WWE, WCW, NJPW, ECW, and many independent promotions.
