Chris Jericho’s AEW in-ring career could come to an end soon, says former WWE star; if Tony Khan makes a big decision

Chris Jericho is one of the stalwarts of the wrestling world, so it is not surprising that his career might be coming to an end. Even a former WWE star thinks the conclusion might be on the cards for the Learning Tree. The star is none other than Ryback.

Jericho has been in the wrestling business since 1990. He has the knack of reinventing himself each time, and he has done so successfully. Now, Ryback has suggested that Chris Jericho’s next contract could be his last one before he transitions to a backstage role.

He was speaking on his Ryback TV podcast when he said:

“Is he better off looking at maybe going out, or is he trying to get one more contract and stretch this out another three years? I don't know. Maybe he is going to do everything he can to get it, and again, it is going to come down to what Tony, if Tony thinks that there is value and maybe they do come to a deal and it's not going to be a main event if you wanna continue and maybe it is transitioning to more of a backstage presence. I don't know.” [56:08 - 56:36]

Chris Jericho addresses retirement talk

Chris Jericho is not one to get rattled by what the fans say, but it seemed like he was not happy when he heard please retire chants at Forbidden Door III.

He teamed up with Big Bill and Jeff Cobb to take on Samoa Joe, Hook, and Katsuyori Shibata in a trios match. Before the match could start, the crowds started to chant, "Please retire" at the former WWE star.

Jericho then took the microphone and said:

"I know you guys don't really want me to retire. Because I'm from Long Island! You love me here, I'm your hometown hero! Thanks guys! Thanks guys!"

The Learning Tree and his team ended up on the losing side as Hook pinned the WWE legend to get the win. One can say that retirement is the last thing on Chris Jericho’s mind right now.
