Chris Jericho steals major win against former WWE US Champion; gets shocked by returning AEW star
AEW star Chris Jericho retained his title after defeating a former WWE star. The former United States Champion being discussed is Matt Cardona. Also, Bandido made his return to the company. He has been absent from AEW for more than June 2023.
The Complete star made his debut on ROH earlier this month. He had wrestled in AEW a handful of times. He challenged the Learning Tree for the ROH World Championship at the Final Battle pay-per-view. Throughout the weeks, the duo tried to take down each other. The duo were slated to battle in the co-main event of the pay-per-view.
The self-proclaimed 'King of New York' made a grand entrance into the Hammerstein Ballroom. His match with Matt Cardona was hard-hitting, with the latter hitting Radio Silence in the initial moments of the contest. In the climax, Bryan Keith hit Cardona with the ROH Title, and Chris Jericho pinned him.
In the aftermath, The Learning Tree members attacked the Deathmatch King in the corner. Surprisingly, Bandido then returned to save Matt Cardona and cleared the ring. This was the 29-year-old star's first appearance on a show after 18 months.
It will be interesting to see if former ROH World Champion Bandido challenges Chris Jericho for a title shot in the future.
