CM Punk ends silence on AEW airing his All In backstage fight footage

WWE Superstar CM Punk has finally directly addressed the airing of the AEW All In footage which showed what went down between him and Jack Perry behind the scenes last year.

During the pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium in August 2023, there were reports of a backstage scuffle between the two following Perry's pre-show match. These occurrences also prompted the decision to dismiss the Straight Edge Superstar from AEW. The promotion aired this footage as part of a storyline a few months ago.

While speaking to Jimmy Traina recently on the SI Media podcast, CM Punk was asked about the airing of the footage, and he finally responded. He talked about how currently he was in a feud with Drew McIntyre, and it was the type of feud where both men wanted to make life a living hell for one another.

"It's kind of like....I have to wrestle Drew McIntyre, right? It's this garbage person that I don't want in my life. This is the fight game. This is the s**t talk business. It's just like fighting in the UFC. You see these guys ripping at each other in ugly press conferences and getting personal. I don't necessarily enjoy that energy, but the payoff is, I get to go in a ring and get to blacken eyes and chip teeth and make Drew sob and do whatever else in my head that I hope to do to him."

He then mentioned that although airing the footage seemed to make things messy for him, it was never going to boost AEW and impact him negatively. He talked about how this meant that he was being talked about within two companies.

"It felt really ugly, but then I was like, showing that footage isn't going to help them or hurt me, so whatever. Being a top draw in two different companies is pretty wild. Thanks, guys." [H/T Fightful]

CM Punk also addressed the recent Shane McMahon and Tony Khan photo

During the same interview, CM Punk was also asked to comment on the recently surfaced photograph of Shane McMahon and Tony Khan meeting up.

He refused to give a direct comment on the photo, but when asked if he would be shocked to see Shane O'Mac appear in AEW in the future, he mentioned that it would not be a surprise to him.

Looking back at the airing of the footage, this ended up being a move that benefited both CM Punk and Jack Perry. Both stars ended up being more talked about since then, and both are currently riding a wave of momentum.
