CM Punk being responsible for backstage heat on major AEW star is unlikely, says veteran

WCW veterans Disco Inferno and Konnan recently discussed whether a major AEW star had backstage heat due to CM Punk. They also opened up about the talent's match with Jack Perry.

The major AEW star in question is Rush. He has been on the All Elite Wrestling roster since 2022. The 35-year-old was recently featured in a program with MJF. Meanwhile, there have been rumors of the former ROH World Champion having backstage heat in the company.

On their Keepin' IT 100 podcast, Konnan and Disco Inferno were asked whether Rush was getting heat because he was seemingly in Punk's corner when the latter was fired after his altercation with Jack Perry last year. In response, Inferno rejected the speculation about the Mexican performer having backstage heat.

"Rush just wrestled MJF. He was in an angle with one of their top guys, so I don't know how he's got heat. I would think the exact opposite. The guy they're (...) actually, they like his work, so they put him in there against MJF."

Konnan then discussed Rush's match with Jack Perry.

"Yeah, plus I have it from very, very, very good sources that when he went in there with Jack Perry because I asked, 'Did he go into business for himself?' 'Cause Rush wrestled like that in Mexico. (...) But he was instructed to eat him up." [0:51 - 1:33]
