Cody reveals his father Dusty Rhodes' first reaction to Bryan Danielson when he joined WWE
Bryan Danielson was part of the WWE roster for several years. Cody revealed his father Dusty Rhodes' first reaction to Danielson when he first joined WWE.
Danielson made a name for himself in Ring of Honor before he joined the Stamford-based promotion. He was part of the first season of NXT. This was when the developmental brand was more like a game show rather than a third brand.
During this time, Dusty Rhodes was heavily involved in helping many of the young talents in the white and gold brand, including Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Danielson.
Speaking on the What Do You Wanna Talk About show, Cody Rhodes recently revealed that Dusty wanted to enrich and help mold the talent coming into NXT, and when an already established name like the former Daniel Bryan was brought into the developmental brand, Sr. Rhodes was most intrigued and wondered why he was even there.
“One of the worst things that could ever happen to my Dad [Dusty Rhodes] when a talent would come to NXT, is when they pretty much had all great skills. I’ve seen some of the reports. I saw one on Daniel Bryan: ‘Why is this guy here?’ He wanted to enrich and help and start building blocks with somebody,” said Cody.
Konnan urges Bryan Danielson to leave AEW for WWE
While Bryan Danielson was able to find quick success in WWE, the same can't be said of his time in AEW. While he has put on some incredible matches with the likes of Will Ospreay, he has yet to win a title in the promotion.
Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan suggested that Danielson should leave his current employer to come back to WWE.
"I think if he went back home it would be a big deal because he's Bryan Danielson and they always, you know, they'll accept him back and they'll have good matches and take care of him. Here, it's super indies! If he doesn't take care of himself, they don't give! You know! It's like, it's just, you know, it's the New York Yankees and the Oakland A's which one do you want to work for?" he stated. [1:02 - 1:22]
