Cody Rhodes makes a massive claim about brother Dustin's future
Cody Rhodes just made a massive claim about his brother Dustin's future. This comes after The Natural recently won his first title in 10 years.
Dustin Rhodes is a wrestling legend who has entertained fans for nearly four decades. He has always played his role to perfection whether it was the bizarre Goldust or his current role of mentoring the younger stars.
Unlike his brother Cody, Dustin has never been in the spotlight or considered a main event star. Despite his numerous accomplishments in WWE and WCW, the 55-year-old was struggling to win gold in AEW until recently.
Dustin Rhodes finally won his maiden title in the Jacksonville-based promotion in the form of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with The Von Erichs ending his 10-year title drought. Despite this win, many people believe that he is near the end of the road in his career.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes recently claimed that Dustin's in-ring career was far from over. He noted that although his brother hadn't spoken to him about his future plans, he could tell that he was not done as a wrestler.
“I’m not surprised because I can tell he’s not done,” said Cody Rhodes. “He hasn’t really told me what he wants to do next, but I can tell he’s not done.” [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
Mark Henry feels Randy Orton could face Cody Rhodes in a title unification match down the line
This week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes offered a title opportunity to Kevin Owens for always showing up for him and putting his body on the line. The match was made official for WWE Bash in Berlin by Nick Aldis. However, this leaves a big question mark around Randy Orton since he has also been helpful to The American Nightmare.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry believes that Orton could dethrone Gunther and then face Cody in a title unification match with the winner becoming the "Universal Champion."
"[Mark, do you see a scenario where Randy Orton tells Cody, like, 'Hey man, I was out there too. I had your back too. Where's my title shot?'] Where is my title shot? Denise, you're on point. But you know what, what if Randy beats Gunther and then says what you just said and he wants to unify and become a Universal Champion?" [31:29 - 31:53]
It remains to be seen if Cody will be able to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin later this month.
