Congratulations to Will Ospreay and popular AEW star
English star Will Ospreay and another popular AEW star just hit a major milestone in a match the duo had last week. They were recognized for the great performance they put on. This was after Ospreay's bout against Kyle Fletcher.
At Full Gear, the former best friends clashed in a high-intensity grudge match. This was their first time facing off one-on-one since Fletcher turned on Ospreay at WrestleDream last month, costing him his AEW International Championship. This was also their second singles bout this year, with the first taking place back in March, where The Aerial Assassin took the win.
It was just revealed on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week that the match between Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher was rated with 5.25 stars by Dave Meltzer. This was the highest-rated match of the night, with the match between Mercedes Moné and Kris Statlander coming up second with 4.5 stars.
It is also interesting to note that Meltzer has given Ospreay a five-star rating for seven of his eight pay-per-view matches since signing with the Jacksonville-based promotion. The only blemish to his AEW run was his match against Roderick Strong, which was rated 4.75 stars.
Will Ospreay is now focused on the AEW Continental Classic
It has not been a great past two months for Will Ospreay as he has been pinned in two straight pay-per-views now.
Last month at WrestleDream, he put his AEW International Championship on the line against Konosuke Takeshita and Ricochet. He ended up getting pinned by Takeshita after the Don Callis Family interfered. Last week, he suffered a surprising loss to Kyle Fletcher in a gruesome affair between the pair.
However it seems he has taken neither loss to heart, and on X/Twitter, he recently mentioned how he has set his sights on winning the Continental Classic. He is currently entered under the Gold League, and he'll be competing in his first match tomorrow night on Collision against Juice Robinson.
"There are worse things than dying, I ain’t dead yet. So we continue. Continental Classic | Gold League | Starts November 27th | Chicago, IL," Ospreay wrote.
It remains to be seen how The Aerial Assasin performs in this tournament next.
