Current RAW star to leave WWE after 6-year run and sign with AEW, says analyst; but could be brought back by Triple H in the future

Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts believes that a current WWE RAW star could jump ship to AEW after six years in the global entertainment giant, although he argued that the wrestler could be brought back by Triple H at some point in the future. The talent in question is Ricochet.

It was recently reported that The Highlight of the Night may be on his way out of WWE. Ricochet was annihilated by Bron Breakker on Monday Night RAW last week in a brutal assault, and many viewed the segment as the promotion writing the former Intercontinental Champion out of its programming.

On a recent episode of Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts addressed Ricochet's potential departure from the sports entertainment juggernaut. He suggested that the star could leverage the excitement and interest generated by speculations regarding his prospective exit to decide on his future.

The WWE personality argued that Ricochet could stay in WWE, or take his talents to AEW, NJPW, TNA or back to the independent scene.

"This is easily the type of thing where Ricochet could decide, 'Look, I've seen what's out there and you know what? I've built up, in the rumors of me leaving, I've built up a lot of love for Ricochet, I've built up a lot of appreciation for Ricochet. Maybe the best move is to come back to WWE. Maybe the best move is to stick around. Or, maybe the best move is to take that love and bring it over to AEW, or maybe the best move is to take all that love and all those eyeballs and hit up New Japan, hit up TNA, hit up the indies and remind people what I'm capable of.'" Roberts also pointed out the popularity of his past matches against reigning AEW International Champion Will Ospreay. He proposed that the 35-year-old star could consider revisiting that feud in All Elite Wrestling, where he could potentially work for some time to raise his stock before moving on to New Japan or eventually returning to the Stamford-based company.

"I mean, the story of Ricochet used to be that match that he had in the mid 2010s with Will Ospreay, maybe he wants to run that back one time. Maybe he wants to do a year in AEW and think that he can increase his value, go back to WWE or go to New Japan after that, who knows?" [54:12 - 54:25]

Tony Khan commented on WWE star Ricochet potentially arriving in AEW

Fans and several industry experts believe that Ricochet may be headed to AEW after his contract expires next month. The former US Champion is also expected to make at least one more TV appearance for the company.

AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Ricochet during a recent interview on TV Insider. The head honcho of All Elite Wrestling, however, refused to comment on the star since he was still contracted to WWE.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ricochet in the pro wrestling industry.
