Current WWE employee gives a definitive answer if the company would ever work with AEW
WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations & Head of Communications Chris Legentil recently addressed the possibility of the Triple H-led promotion working with AEW. The promotions have been fierce rivals since the inception of Tony Khan's company in 2019.
The Tony Khan-led promotion has worked with multiple companies like NJPW, CMLL, GCW, and AAA since its launch in 2019. The possibility of AEW working with WWE has been one of the biggest what-ifs in the wrestling world. Ever since TKO took over WWE, the Stamford-based promotion has also formed many working relationships with other promotions, most notably TNA.
On the Sports Media Podcast with Richard Deitsch, Chris Legentil was asked about a possible collaboration between AEW and the Triple H-led WWE. The WWE EVP made it clear that the company had no interest in working with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"No interest. I just want to make it clear. There is definitely a variety of excellent talent that don't [sic] currently reside in WWE. There is no shot there that is being fired. It's just to say, the answer to your question is no conversation has been had in relation to that," he said. [H/T: Fightful Select]
AEW CEO Tony Khan would love to collaborate with WWE
Tony Khan often takes major shots at WWE. However, recently on the Rich Eisen Show, the AEW CEO stated that he would love to collaborate with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut, adding that it would be great for wrestling fans.
However, Tony admitted that it would be a very challenging thing to do.
“I would love if that were possible. I don’t know that it is, but it would be great if it was possible for the fans. I think that would be wonderful, but there are a lot of challenging business things in the world of pro wrestling that I think would make that a very challenging thing to do,'' Khan said. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the two promotions collaborate in the future.
