Current WWE Superstar could join AEW as a heel after parting ways with Triple H, says analyst; and reform iconic faction
A current WWE Superstar could sign with AEW as a heel after departing from the company to reform an iconic promotion, according to an analyst. The star in question is none other than Bobby Lashley.
Recent rumors in the wrestling world suggest that The All Mighty is expected to be on his way out of WWE, as his contract with the sports entertainment juggernaut is reportedly set to expire soon. Similar reports have been circulating regarding his former manager MVP, and speculations have continued to spread regarding the prospect of the duo reuniting with Shelton Benjamin and reforming The Hurt Business in All Elite Wrestling.
On a recent edition of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, analyst Sam Roberts reflected on how Lashley, Benjamin, and MVP could benefit the Tony Khan-led promotion in case they were signed by the latter. He suggested that The Hurt Business could be introduced to All Elite programming as seasoned veterans who are critical of the company's product, which in turn would motivate fans to rally behind the promotion and its unique elements.
"I think The Hurt Business, or whatever they're called, Shelton Benjamin, MVP and Bobby Lashley, coming into [All Elite Wrestling] and basically being that voice of the experienced grizzled veteran AEW critic. And being that, but being a villain, will only make it so that people start to love these things about [All Elite Wrestling] that make it different. I think that they could be a tremendous villain act in AEW that would not only make for great opponents for every good guy that AEW has but ultimately give that product a sense of identity that I'm not sure, that I think it's struggling to kind of find right now." Vince Russo wants to see The Hurt Business in the indie circuit rather than go to AEW
While numerous wrestling fans are keen to see Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin join forces in All Elite Wrestling, several industry veterans have expressed their opinions to the contrary, including former wrestling writer Vince Russo.
On a recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaw podcast, Russo argued in favor of The Hurt Business continuing to ply their trade in the independent wrestling scene, citing promotions like TNA and NWA as companies he would like to see the trio appear in. He further argued against the faction showing up in AEW, expressing the belief that they would lose prominence within a few weeks in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"You know bro, if we really are talking about Independent contractors, I would love to see them involved with every major promotion. I would love to see them on TNA, I would love to see them on NWA, I'd love to see them everywhere. That would be cool. Things like that never happen anymore you know what I mean bro. I would love to see something out of the norm happen rather than Chris like you said bro, they go to AEW and literally in four weeks, they're other names on the roster."
With MVP having already made his first post-WWE appearance at Bloodsport recently, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him, as well as for Lashley and Benjamin, in the pro-wrestling industry.
