Daniel Garcia reveals why he chose to stay with AEW despite WWE rumors - "That's something I always wanted to accomplish"
Daniel Garcia recently revealed that he would be staying in AEW. He now revealed the reason behind his decision.
Garcia's contract has been a topic of hot discussion in recent months. With the news of his contract expiry date around the corner, there were reports that WWE was interested in the AEW star.
Many people thought that when MJF brutally assaulted him, it was AEW's way of writing him off TV. However, Daniel Garcia made a surprise return at All In and has since confirmed that he will be staying in Tony Khan's promotion.
During a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, The Dragon Slayer explained that he wanted to have a ''little stint'' in NJPW, and Tony Khan's promotion would allow him to do that.
''A big part of the reason why I love AEW is that we can go do other things. I can go do indies if I want. We have those relationships with NJPW and CMLL, where I can still get experience in other places. I feel like New Japan Pro-Wrestling was always my dream when I first started being a wrestler. That's something I always wanted to accomplish. I wouldn't feel full in my wrestling career until I got to have a little stint there. I feel like keeping those doors open was very important to me,” he said. [H/T: Yahoo Sports]
Konnan gives his opinion on Daniel Garcia after the latter announced he's staying with AEW
When Daniel Garcia announced his decision to stay in AEW during a promo, it raised a lot of eyebrows as many people thought he could benefit from going to NXT. Many people have since spoken about his decision.
Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL podcast, Konnan said that The Dragon Slayer didn't look believable in his promo, adding that the 26-year-old didn't come off as a star. He said:
"The thing is he came out there, and he's like, 'Oh, I'm coming out there; you deserve to know what my decision is!' People like him though, and he's like, 'You deserve it!' It's like, yeah, I know, dude; I didn't think you were gonna come on TV to say you were quitting. I mean, anything could happen in wrestling, but he goes, 'I'm staying with AEW, where the best wrestle, and all this,' and he just doesn't come off as a star, bro! He doesn't have that X-factor, you know what I'm saying?'' [From 15:15 to 15:50]
