Darby Allin a favored choice to be the 'hero' after AEW WrestleDream
The AEW locker room seems to be facing a formidable threat after the events of WrestleDream 2024. According to wrestling veteran Bully Ray, Darby Allin should be the hero who rallies the roster against the heel group.
Dethroning Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Title and retiring him from full-time action was not enough for Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club. The violent faction decimated The American Dragon in a stunning post-match angle that saw Wheeler Yuta turn on his mentor, after which Claudio Castagnoli delivered a stomp on Danielson with a steel chair collaring his neck.
All this unfolded right in front of Darby Allin, who had rushed to the ring to rescue Bryan and whom The BCC restrained by taping him to the turnbuckle. Other babyfaces eventually arrived to send Moxley and his allies running. They released Allin, who looked on devastated alongside Orange Cassidy, Daniel Garcia, and HOOK as medical personnel loaded Danielson onto a stretcher.
During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE veteran Bully Ray argued that All Elite Wrestling should position and book Darby Allin as a top heroic face intent on gaining revenge on and leading the charge against The BCC and Jon Moxley.
"As of right now, based on everything that I saw at the end of that show — of WrestleDream — I want Darby Allin to be positioned as my superhero! [...] Darby was the guy set up to be the hero," Bully said. [H/T - Wrestling Inc]
Darby Allin did not appear on AEW Dynamite this week
In a video package that opened the latest edition of Dynamite, Jon Moxley issued an ominous warning to the AEW locker room and declared The BCC's mission statement moving forward in the Tony Khan-led promotion.
The heel group made its presence felt in the arena during a trios match between The Conglomeration and The Elite, going after Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'Reilly and eventually Action Andretti, Top Flight and The Dark Order, who had sprinted to the ring to help their peers.
Notably, commentary remarked that Darby Allin was "unreachable" after the events that transpired at WrestleDream 2024. The former TNT Champion did not appear on Dynamite. However, he was featured in a video package that the episode aired promoting his collaboration with Tony Hawk to support The Skatepark Project.
It remains to be seen when and how Allin will confront and bring the fight to The BCC in AEW.
