Darby Allin reveals the one thing Sting told him immediately after his retirement match in AEW
Darby Allin and Sting formed a successful tag team in AEW. They even teamed together in The Icon's retirement match.
Ever since Sting joined AEW, he has been associated with Darby Allin. Together, they formed one of the most successful duos in the company's history. They were undefeated and beat every top team in the promotion.
When The Icon announced that he would be stepping away from the ring at AEW Revolution 2024, they had a run as AEW Tag Team Champions and even defended the titles in the WCW legend's final match against The Young Bucks. After a thrilling contest, The Icon and Darby stepped away with the win and the former even retired with a perfect win/loss record in the company.
Speaking to Q1057 and 1035's Mike Karolyi, Darby Allin said that Sting came up to him following the match and said that it was one of his top three favorite matches of his entire career.
“He came up to me after the match and said, ‘Easily top three favorite matches of my whole career.’ I thought, ‘Yep, that’s all I wanted to hear at the end of the night.’ I had a huge hole in my side because I jumped through glass and got sliced open. I was just like, ‘I’m alive, things are good—let’s go to the hospital!'” [H/T: Wrestlezone]

Bill Apter believes that AEW could convince Sting to return for an exciting angle
After a legendary career in WCW, TNA, and AEW, Sting finally decided to hang up his boots at AEW Revolution 2024. However, people are already talking about his return to the ring. This is because The Icon recently announced that he signed a new deal with Tony Khan's promotion. This led to a lot of people believing that he might come out of retirement.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with Mac Davis, Bill Apter said that AEW might be able to convince The Icon to return for a surprising angle since these sorts of things are quite common in the wrestling industry.
"Is he going to wrestle again? I don't think so but you never know. You never know where there is one angle where they need him and he might just work, I don't know, in someone's corner and get involved or he might just agree to one more tag team match or something. You know, wrestling people do this thing, they always say no and then a couple of years later, 'Well, maybe one more time.'"
