Debuting legend accidentally gets unmasked on AEW television
During the latest episode of Collision, an AEW Champion disrespectfully unmasked a world-renowned luchador, taking advantage of the situation to go for the victory. This would be Kazuchika Okada unmasking Ultimo Guerrero.
Tonight, The Rainmaker faced off against the legendary luchador in an eliminator match for the AEW Continental Championship. This was after Interim EVP Christopher Daniels announced that The Elite needed to defend their titles at some point.
The Young Bucks fell to The Acclaimed during their eliminator match on AEW Dynamite this week, but the same can't be said about Okada. He faced off against one of CMLL's finest, a man who has amassed an impressive resume, winning almost every title present on the luchador promotion.
At a point in the match, Kazuchika Okada tried pulling Ultimo Guerrero's mask off, and he was able to do so, which distracted his opponent. He then set Ultimo up for his Rainmaker finisher.
Okada gave him a few seconds to try to put his mask back on, but eventually, after hitting his move, the mask still flew off, briefly exposing Guerrero's face, the ultimate disrespect toward a luchador.
Okada's win tonight means that he has yet to have a contender deserving of a shot at his title, and it remains to be seen whether he'll have one before the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
