Details of how Drew McIntyre sneaked into arena to attack CM Punk explained by WWE Hall of Famer

A WWE Hall of Famer has offered his explanation of how Drew McIntyre possibly executed a sneak attack on CM Punk on Smackdown. The individual in question is Mark Henry.

The June 21, 2024, episode of Smackdown saw Punk interact with Paul Heyman and nearly engage in a physical encounter with The Bloodline before finding an ally in Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who arrived to even the odds for The Second City Saint. Later in the show, however, Punk would suffer an attack at the hands of Drew McIntyre, as the latter took vengeance on the Chicago native for costing him the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle 2024. The Scottish Psychopath was seen to have bloodied Punk and left his prone body on the entrance ramp in front of a shocked crowd in the Allstate Arena.

Analyzing Drew McIntyre's assault of CM Punk on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry argued that The Best in the World probably had not been bested in a face-to-face confrontation by The Chosen One. The Hall of Famer speculated that McIntyre had likely ambushed Punk from behind, blindsiding him and leaving him in a beaten state in front of his hometown crowd.

"It's been a while since you seen CM Punk get beat up," Henry said. "He'll let us know how it happened, because straight up nuts-to-nuts, I don't see Punk getting drug like that. I think Drew caught him from behind and Drew took advantage of a good situation and made a great situation for him, and he took Punk and laid him at the feet of his fanbase."

The World's Strongest Man also provided some feedback, stating that in addition to assaulting Punk backstage, McIntyre should have punished the Straight Edge Superstar to horrify the audience members.

"I can't say I would've done something different, but I still think that people needed to see me do something to him, not just drop him off," Henry said. "I want people to scream like a horror movie." [H/T Wrestling Inc]

Mark Henry's reaction to Jacob Fatu's debut on WWE Smackdown

In the main event of the same episode of Smackdown, Cody Rhodes went one-on-one with Solo Sikoa. The bout ended in a disqualification due to interference from Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Rhodes' friends, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, rushed to the ring to even the odds for The American Nightmare.

Unfortunately, a debuting Jacob Fatu annihilated the Babyface alliance. The Samoan Werewolf laid waste to KO and The Viper before splashing Rhodes through the commentary desk.

WWE posted a clip of Fatu destroying Rhodes on Smackdown on its official Instagram profile. Former World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry responded to the post and seemingly praised Fatu's debut.
