Dijak reveals "a lot of people" in AEW don't like a current WWE star
Former WWE star Dijak was recently backstage at the AEW Forbidden Door PPV. The 37-year-old has revealed that a lot of talent does not like former AEW World Champion CM Punk, who had a controversial run in the promotion.
Dijak recently left WWE after his contract expired. He had a long tenure with the promotion and has competed in some of the best matches in NXT. However, Dijak fell victim to bad booking even after his call-up to the main roster in the most recent draft. The 37-year-old was drafted to Monday Night RAW, however, did not make any appearance on the Red Brand.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Dijak was asked about what CM Punk had told him leading to a change of character and performance for the star. He stated that while he would like to keep that to himself, it was nothing revolutionary but it worked. He continued to state that while he was in the AEW locker room, he learned that a lot of people there do not like him.
"You know, I'd actually like to keep that to myself. It's meaningful to me. It's not anything revolutionary but it's a concept I've heard before and when you hear it coming from him and with his success in this business and with the things he has done in this business, good or bad. I was just in the AEW locker room, there's a lot of people there that do not like him, right? That's not my business."
The former WWE star further recounted CM Punk coming to the NXT locker room and giving feedback to the talent.
"The first time I met him [CM Punk] in the NXT locker room, the first time he walked in, my guard was way up. Because I wouldn't say I'm friends with Adam Page but I've roomed with Adam Page, I've wrestled Adam Page, I know him. We are friendly, we've spoken privately many times. So my guard is up, and he walks in the locker room, it's like, I've heard not-so-good things about you in the locker room. He was nothing but friendly, he was kind, he was giving, he watched all the matches. He came to TV the next day. He gave feedback there." [18:40 - 20:04]
Dijak speaks about his personal interaction with former WWE Champion CM Punk
In the same interview, the former NXT star revealed that his conversations with CM Punk were nothing but positive and reflected on how people have different interactions with each other.
"So, my personal interaction with him has been nothing but positive. I can understand how it hasn't been with other people and that's okay. We all have different interactions with different people. Some of my very close friends are also friends with people who despise me and I know for a fact that they despise me." [20:05-20:30]
CM Punk is set to face Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam in his first televised singles match in WWE in 10 years. It will be interesting to see if the Best in The World manages to defeat McIntyre, now that Seth Rollins has been named the Special Guest Referee.
