Drew McIntyre finally comments on viral picture with AEW star Jack Perry

WWE star Drew McIntyre has opened up about his controversial photograph with AEW star Jack Perry before SummerSlam. The Scapegoat is the current TNT Champion in All Elite Wrestling.

The controversy between Jack Perry and Drew McIntyre's current WWE rival CM Punk eventually led to the firing of Punk from All Elite Wrestling. The Scottish Warrior has been playing mind games with the Straight Edge Superstar in their heated rivalry and ahead of their SummerSlam clash McIntyre posted a now-deleted photograph with Jack Perry to add fuel to the fire.

In a recent chat on the Gorilla Position podcast, Drew McIntyre addressed the photograph and revealed that he met Jack Perry on a flight.

"On the same flight [McIntyre responded when asked how the photo with Jack Perry came about]. He was just right in front of me. I had a chat with him. Lovely lad. His girlfriend’s really nice, flying to LA and just said, 'Hey, we should take a picture together. We’re both wrestlers. I’ll put it on the internet. Give ya a little rub (McIntyre laughed),' and people reacted crazy." [H/T:WrestleTalk]

CM Punk was fired from AEW after his backstage altercation with Jack Perry

Last year at AEW All In, Jack Perry and CM Punk had a backstage altercation. The incident revolved around Perry wanting to use real glass during his match, which Punk advised the young star to avoid.

This led to a physical backstage fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry where Punk choked out Perry and had to be separated by several stars. The fight forced the promotion to terminate CM Punk's contract with All Elite Wrestling and also suspend Jack Perry.

CM Punk has since returned to WWE whereas Jack Perry reinvented his career in NJPW and is the current TNT Champion in AEW. The Best in the World is gearing up to face Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match at Bash in Berlin.
