Dustin Rhodes avenges his 15-year-old loss against 3-time WWE Intercontinental Champion in AEW
WWE legend Dustin Rhodes (fka Goldust) made his in-ring return on AEW Collision after nearly five months to face a former Intercontinental Champion. He last locked horns with the star over 15 years ago. Dustin finally avenged his previous loss on Saturday.
The three-time WWE Intercontinental Champion in question is John Morrison (aka Johnny TV). He made his AEW debut last year following his release from the Stamford-based promotion in 2021. Johnny returned to action on Collision this week after suffering a loss against Claudio Castagnoli on May 30, 2024.
Johnny TV squared off against Dustin Rhodes, who has been with AEW since 2019. Interestingly, Dustin and Johnny wrestled each other in a one-on-one bout in April 2009, where the latter secured the victory.
In a back-and-forth encounter on Collision, Johnny's wife, Taya Valkyrie, also got involved multiple times and she was barred from the ringside by the referee. In a bout that lasted nearly ten minutes, The Natural scored a pinfall victory and avenged his loss against the three-time Intercontinental Champion from over 15 years ago.
After the match, Dustin addressed his match against Jack Perry next week on Dynamite. It remains to be seen what transpires on Wednesday.
