Dustin Rhodes reacts to AEW star showing off a new character after recent return
Dustin Rhodes, formerly known as Goldust, had something nice to say about AEW star Sammy Guevara's character change. The 31-year-old star recently returned to the Jacksonville-based promotion after dealing with a suspension.
In February 2024, Guevara had a singles match with wrestling veteran Jeff Hardy. During the match, he executed a high-flying risky move that led him to land awkwardly on his opponent's face.
As a result, Jeff suffered a concussion and a broken nose. Sammy was then suspended for allegedly not following safety protocols during the match. His suspension was lifted in May 2024 but he did not return to the ring until a few weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, The Spanish God made a surprise appearance in Ring of Honor and saved Dustin Rhodes from an ambush led by The Dark Order. He even joined The Natural and his friends, The Von Erichs, after expressing his desire to be their ally.
Sammy had his first match in five months on a recent episode of ROH, where he teamed up with Rhodes to defeat Alex Reynolds & John Silver.
The Natural recently took to X/Twitter to share some photos of himself and Guevara. He also praised the former TNT Champion and stated that he likes this new version of Sammy very much.
"The new and improved @sammyguevara has really grown on me lately. I believe we can beat anybody! #AEW #ROH," Dustin Rhodes shared.

It would be interesting to see whether Sammy pursues any singles championship upon his return to AEW programming.
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes commented on Dustin Rhodes' alliance with The Von Erichs
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes spoke about Dustin Rhodes' alliance with Ross and Marshall Von Erich. The American Nightmare also revealed how much he admired their father, Kevin Von Erich.
"Dustin doing the spot with The Von Erichs was so cool. I have such a love for The Von Erichs. I don’t think Kevin knows this, but I studied Kevin, I watched Kevin, I was so fascinated by Kevin Von Erich. To see his kids and Dustin, it was very touching," Cody Rhodes said.
In recent weeks, fans saw Dustin Rhodes team up with The Von Erichs to defeat The Dark Order and earn a shot at the vacant ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. Later, the trio defeated The Undisputed Kingdom at AEW Battle of the Belts XI to become the new champions.
