Dustin Rhodes reacts after Cody Rhodes pitches for the AEW star to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
Dustin Rhodes has been an integral part of AEW, but before that, he was a bonafide WWE legend. The 55-year-old has reacted to his younger brother, Cody Rhodes, claiming he deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Dustin Rhodes debuted his Goldust character in 1995 and became a fixture in the Attitude Era. While he initially played a villain who relied on shock value, Rhodes was able to evolve the character over the years in order to remain relevant.
Upon joining AEW in 2019, Dustin revived his original gimmick as The Natural, although he's retained elements of his legendary Goldust character. In a recent interview with The Schmo, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes discussed his brother's dedication and impact, claiming that he deserved a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
SI Wrestling promoted the quote with a question on X/Twitter: should Goldust be in the Hall of Fame? Dustin Rhodes reacted to the tweet with a gif of his iconic WWE character:
Dustin Rhodes is expected to re-sign with AEW
Despite having almost retired after his iconic match with Cody Rhodes at AEW Double or Nothing 2019, Dustin Rhodes has become a stalwart within the Jacksonville-based promotion, both on-screen and behind the scenes.
Rhodes has worked with many young talents as a coach, but he's also proved he can still hang with the best in the ring. The 55-year-old is currently an ROH Tag Team Champion (with Sammy Guevara) and Six-Man Tag Team Champion (with The Von Erichs), and he's showing no signs of slowing down.
Many fans have speculated on a potential return to WWE, where Dustin might get one final run alongside his brother, Cody Rhodes. However, according to a recent report, The Natural is expected to re-sign with AEW when his current contract expires.
Dustin Rhodes is in the twilight of his career, but it's clear he still has some gas left in the tank. AEW is heading to Dallas-Fort Worth next year for All In 2025, which will be the promotion's first stadium show in the United States. It seems the perfect stage for the elder Rhodes, who is a Texas native, to hang up his boots.
If he does choose to retire at All In next year, he'll have made the case for both a WWE and future AEW Hall of Fame induction.
