Eddie Kingston gives major health update amid AEW absence
Eddie Kingston's last AEW match took place just over five months ago. The veteran brawler suffered various injuries in his career, but multiple issues put him on the shelf for a lengthy hiatus earlier this year. Kingston just opened up on his health, how anxious he is to return, plus a fraud warning to fans and colleagues.
The Mad King has not wrestled since dropping the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship to Gabriel Kidd on May 11. He suffered a torn ACL, meniscus, and fractured tibia, then underwent surgery in early July. There was talk that the 22-year industry veteran would be out of action until May 2025. Kingston's last AEW match took place at Dynasty on April 21, where he teamed with Adam Copeland and Mark Briscoe for a loss to The House of Black.
The Last Of A Dying Breed continues to heal up and is back to training. Kingston admitted to The DAVINci Report that he's getting impatient ahead of his ring return. The 42-year-old also offered a warning about the insurance industry:
"Just healing up from a fracture of my tibia, strain on my meniscus, and I had to get my ACL replaced. A lot of fun. It's been a process. It's going good, until my insurance acts up, and that's when I get annoyed. Insurance is a fraud, folks. Just throwing that out there. I'm starting to get itchy at home. I can walk now, a little bit. I can walk, I can lift weights. I can do squats a little bit, not too low. Now it's at the point of, 'Let's hurry this up. Let's get going,'" Eddie Kingston said. [H/T to Fightful]
Kingston revealed in September 2023 that he re-signed for another four years with AEW. The inaugural Continental Champion has been with the company since July 2020.
