Eric Bischoff surprisingly says, "Kudos to Tony Khan," after a bold decision at AEW Forbidden Door 2024
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has surprisingly praised AEW CEO Tony Khan for an important decision at the Forbidden Door PPV. The former RAW GM often bashes Khan for his AEW booking.
This past weekend at the Forbidden Door PPV event, Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay headlined the show with an incredible main event for the AEW World Championship. The match saw some of the best sequences and after a hard-fought battle, Swerve managed to retain the top prize, handing a big loss to the Aerial Assassin.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff heaped praise on the main event of Forbidden Door and noted how Will Ospreay putting over Swerve Strickland helped the credibility of the AEW World Champion:
"Gotta talk about that main event. Pretty high on that main event. I'm gonna say this right off the f*cking bat, kudos to Tony Khan and his creative decision. Perhaps the best one he's ever made. Having Will Ospreay put over Swerve [Strickland] and not only by the way put over Swerve, but make Swerve look like a billion bucks. Kudos Kudos Kudos and the hell with all of you to think I never put anybody over when they deserve it." [1:01-1:43]
Eric Bischoff further praised Will Ospreay for putting over Swerve Strickland at AEW Forbidden Door
On his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff also spoke about how Will Ospreay elevated Swerve Strickland at the Forbidden Door PPV event. The former RAW GM pointed out the specialty of Ospreay of keeping himself over while putting over Swerve Strickland as the top guy of the Jacksonville-based promotion:"
"He [Swerve Strickland] looks so good and [Will] Ospreay can make himself look really really good. He made Swerve tonight and as much as I'm putting over Tony [Khan] and Swerve because has stepped up and do it. He was in there with a pro in Ospreay that made sure Ospreay did everything in his power to make that a phenomenal freaking match. Swerve couldn't have done what he did to the level he did it without someone as professional and as talented as Ospreay. Not only talented in getting himself over but in getting somebody else over. I just can't say enough good things about him. It gives me some hope. It was powerful enough to give me hope." [2:19-3:13]
Swerve Strickland has now defeated some major names during his AEW World Title reign. It will be interesting to see who steps up to challenge the former WWE star in the coming weeks.
