Ex-WWE star admits AEW made a mistake by breaking up his alliance with Christopher Daniels; calls “bad creative”
A former WWE star called out AEW's creative after separating him and Christopher Daniels. The star being discussed is Frankie Kazarian.
Following his departure from AEW, Kazarian returned to TNA in 2023 and signed to the promotion. He also worked in WWE in 2005 and was released after a few months.
SoCal Uncensored was among the original tag teams All Elite Wrestling hired in 2019. It consisted of Frankie Kazarian, Christopher Daniels, and Scorpio Sky. Kazarian and Sky were the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions. After losing the championships in over two months, the team lost its momentum.
While Scorpio Sky aimed for the TNT Championship in 2021, Daniels and Kazarian disagreed on many cases and later broke the team after losing to The Young Bucks, which was stipulated. As of now, Christopher Daniels is the current interim Executive Vice President, and Scorpio is still with the promotion but hasn't wrestled in the company since September 2023.
Recently, a fan on X/Twitter said he missed SCU, to which Frankie said the faction should have never been broken. He also took a shot at AEW's booking after he used an infamous Chris Jericho GIF, which said "Stupid idea from bad creative".
"Thank you. SCU was special. Should have NEVER been broken up. But, we were and it was a very….[Stupid idea from bad creative]," he tweeted.
Frankie Kazarian discusses issues with AEW
Kazarian left All Elite Wrestling in 2023. After SCU separated, he was barely featured on TV as a singles star.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, the 46-year-old star said the company lacks leadership and has not been given real direction.
"The negative stuff, you know, just ultimately the lack of leadership. Inmates running the asylum in a way. No real direction. I think there’s also, at least when I was there… So there were stories that was presented. ‘We’ll do this, this, this and this.’ Okay, but after that, what are you gonna do? That was always a problem," he said.
It will be interesting to see if SCU ever reunites in the Jacksonville-based promotion in the future.
