Female AEW star gushes over The Miz - "He has it all"
AEW has its share of A-list talents on the roster, but veteran WWE Superstar The Miz is in a class of his own. The Cleveland native turned a reality TV gig into a successful pro wrestling career, and on the way, he has become a mainstream celebrity. One of the top talents from the AEW women's division has just shared her unfiltered thoughts on The Miz.
The A-Lister began his journey on MTV's The Real World in 2001, then signed a WWE developmental contract in 2004. He has been a fixture on the main roster since 2006, racking up 21 title reigns to become the first-ever two-time Grand Slam Champion. The Miz also has more than 30 film and TV projects under his belt, including the Miz & Mrs. reality show starring him and his wife, Maryse.
Despite his occasional heelish antics, many fans and wrestlers cannot deny the success of The Awesome One, including AEW's Thunder Rosa. The Unstoppable recently spoke with Busted Open Radio about how impressive Mike Mizanin is. Rosa praised the 43-year-old for his work in and out of the ring.
"He's been in movies, he's been on shows. He's that consistent worker that keeps getting work, because one, he's a very safe worker. Two, he's consistent and he consistently can get people over because he's very unlikable on TV, because of how he presents himself. And three, he's somebody...you can't teach hard work and ethic, the work ethic that he has, and he has it all," Thunder Rosa said.
Rosa continued and revealed how The Miz has inspired her:
"You don't want to be mediocre at what you do. You want to excel at everything that you do, because that's the only way that you can say, 'This is what I'm worth. Look at my numbers. Look at the things I've done outside of wrestling to bring other eyes into wrestling.' So it just resonated with me, because me as a female wrestler... that's one of the things I do to stand out as a professional wrestler, because I don't want them to only see me as a professional wrestler, I want them to see me as a star that I am, right? And I think that The Miz is the perfect example of that," Thunder Rosa said. [h/t Wrestling Inc]
Thunder Rosa has been feuding with Deonna Purrazzo on AEW TV as of late. After defeating The Virtuosa on Rampage in late April, Purrazzo got the win back on the Double Or Nothing pre-show. She also won a Collision No DQ match on June 15. Rosa was back in action on last Friday's Rampage, defeating Rachael Ellering.
AEW announces Grand Slam 2024 details
All Elite Wrestling will present its 4th annual Grand Slam edition of Dynamite on Wednesday, September 25. The company is returning to Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY.
A special Grand Slam edition of Collision has also been confirmed to air on September 28, but it looks like Collision will also be taped with Dynamite. The Grand Slam pre-sale begins on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET via aewtix.com, and the general on-sale will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.
The inaugural Grand Slam in 2021 aired over two nights on Dynamite and Rampage. The same format was used for 2022 and 2023, so this year will mark the first-ever Collision Grand Slam.
