Female AEW star sends a concerning message - "Today is a terrible day for me"
A female AEW star sent a concerning message on social media. She even asked fans to cheer her up.
Athena first made an impact in NXT under the ring name Ember Moon. She gained a lot of traction in NXT due to her in-ring skills which eventually saw her receive her main roster call-up. However, Ember Moon lost her way in the women's division and was moved back down to NXT. After years of lackluster booking, she left the company.
Athena then joined All Elite Wrestling where it didn't take long for her to assert her dominance in the sister promotion, ROH. In ROH, she quickly won the ROH Women's World Championship. She is still the ROH Women's Champion and has held the title for an impressive 572 days making her the longest reigning ROH Women's World Champion in history.
Despite her professional life on track, Athena took to social media to let fans know that she was having a terrible day. She even asked them to send her some funny memes. But, the AEW star didn't give any specifics about what happened to her today:
"Today is a terrible day for me... please send funny memes!"

AEW star Athena provided an unfortunate update on her in-ring status
Athena's career took a turn for the worse when she suffered an injury during her match against Viva Van which was set to sideline her for four to six months. However, she mentioned that she would not vacate her title despite being unable to defend it.
If this wasn't enough, Athena announced during a recent edition of ROH that she also suffered a ligament tear and could be out for eight to twelve months now.
It remains to be seen if Athena will consider relinquishing her ROH Women's World Championship now that her injury is far more serious.
