"Fingers crossed" - Legendary ex-WWE star hopeful of a reunion with Christian Cage and Adam Copeland (Exclusive)

WWE made household names out of Edge and Christian Cage. Long before they became All Elite, the longtime friends and rivals found major success in working closely with stars such as The Hardys, The Dudleys, Chris Benoit, The Brothers of Destruction, and even Hulk Hogan. Now a familiar face from the Attitude Era and more recent times is hoping for a big reunion.

The Brood is widely viewed as one of the more unique factions of the WWE Attitude Era. Gangrel had been wrestling around the country for just over a decade when he returned to WWE to lead a new gothic faction with Edge and Christian, two longtime friends from Canada who were fairly new to the company. Following legendary runs with various companies, Cage joined All Elite Wrestling in March 2021, and Copeland signed in October 2023.

The Vampiro Warrior is not giving up on the idea of reuniting the original Brood. Gangrel debuted for AEW in 2020 with a cameo appearance during Elite Deletion. Then in 2022, the 36-year veteran made an appearance during The Young Bucks' feud with former New Brood members The Hardys. He then appeared at Double or Nothing this past May, coming from under the mat to help Copeland fight off The House of Black during the Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match against Malakai Black.

Appearing on WrestleBinge, Gangrel told Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter that he's hopeful for any opportunity with his former stablemates. The 55-year-old was asked if he was hoping officials could've booked Christian for the full reunion.

"That would be super, super cool. But he's [Christain Cage] on his own journey right there, he had that Strickland match, and I don't know how they could've possibly did that. I mean... maybe if they stalled things off, but maybe Adam just saw the opportunity to make it happen now, instead of missing this opportunity to get it in there. So, maybe in the future. Fingers crossed [laughs], you never know," Gangrel said. [From 01:53 to 02:15]

Gangrel, Copeland, and Cage last teamed up on July 11, 1999, for a WWE Heat win over Viscera, Mideon, and Big Boss Man. Two weeks before, The Hardys defeated Edge and Gangrel at King of the Ring.

Their last match as a faction before that, which was also their final trios win, came on June 8 as The Brood defeated The Hardys and Michael Hayes of The New Brood.

Gangrel names AEW and WWE stars who have a lot of buzz

Gangrel has wrestled around the world for close to 40 years, but he's also trained several stars and helped start their careers. The former Brood leader has operated his own wrestling schools and is currently the head trainer at Coastal Championship Wrestling's Training Facility in Pompano Beach, FL.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter on the WrestleBinge YouTube channel, Gangrel was asked who he is hearing about these days. The Legends Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer discussed Christian Cage's heel run, while also mentioning the AEW World Champion he previously called out. He also had interesting remarks on WWE NXT Superstar Lola Vice, who he helped train.

"Not to bring up Christian, but people are talking about how great his heel work is. I hear a lot about Christian's stuff, but when I watch it I go, 'That's just Christian being Christian!' [laughs] That's the Christian I know, he's got that sarcasm and sense of humor. Strickland, but I just mentioned him, you hear a lot about that. Keep an eye on Lola Vice, because she came through the school [for] a little bit there. I don't know what's going on there, looks like she might have slowed down a little bit of momentum," Gangrel said. [From 07:13 to 07:50]
