Finn Balor breaks character and gets honest about his relationship with ex-WWE rival Adam Copeland (FKA Edge)

WWE Superstar Finn Balor recently opened up about his relationship with former rival Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge. The latter is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling.

The rivalry between Finn Balor and Adam Copeland began in 2022 when The Ultimate Opportunist brought in the former NXT Champion as the newest member of his heel stable, The Judgment Day. However, Balor, along with Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, proceeded to turn against Copeland immediately, kicking the latter out of the fearsome faction.

The feud between Copeland and The Judgment Day spanned the second half of 2022 and spilled into 2023. The WWE Hall of Famer competed against the 42-year-old star in a gruesome Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 39, defeating "The Demon" Finn Balor after a tremendous contest. The Irish star recently spoke retrospectively about his long-running program with Copeland in an interview.

During a conversation with WTSpod, Finn Balor revealed that he had been a fan of Adam Copeland since his childhood days, and spoke about missing out on facing the latter after his initial retirement in 2011. The former Universal Champion also claimed that attempts were made for Balor to work with The Rated-R Superstar for some time before they eventually ended up locking horns. The Prince further stated that he did not expect their program to last as long as it did, assuming it would be a one-off.

"I always admired Edge, like obviously as a fan when I was a kid... like I didn't really appreciate him at the time, like how good he was, and then when him and Christian kind of retired, I came to WWE, so we just kind of missed each other. The relationship with me and Edge, like it's been going on for a long time of trying to get things together before we actually did work, and then when we did work, I didn't think it was going to last nine months, I thought it was going to be a one and done," Finn Balor said. The Rated-R Superstar is currently on a hiatus due to a fractured tibia and fans would be expecting to see him on AEW programming soon.

WWE Superstar Finn Balor spoke about the botch during Hell in a Cell match against Adam Copeland

During the same interview, Finn Balor discussed a horrendous botch that took place during his Hell in a Cell bout against Adam Copeland at WrestleMania 39. The error took place when the former Intercontinental Champion ended up taking a brutal shot to the head from a ladder.

Balor recalled raising his arms to protect himself after Copeland had chucked the ladder at him, but realizing that the rungs of the ladder had slipped through the gap between his hands, failing to block it as a result. He recounted feeling a sting as the ladder connected with his head, and despite initially not being able to feel any serious effects, he spoke about noticing a "waterfall of blood" drip from his forehead when he got on all fours.

Balor currently holds the World Tag Team Championship with JD McDonagh on Monday Night RAW.
