First-time-ever match in AEW involving 6 ft 8 in former WWE star officially announced
A former WWE Superstar's match against a star he was all too familiar with has been announced for next week's edition of AEW Dynamite. This would be Lance Archer facing Will Ospreay.
Both men have faced one another a total of three times in singles competition. However, these have all been in NJPW. Ospreay won their first match during the New Japan Cup in 2019, but Archer would get retribution later on in the year during the G1 Climax Tournament.
Earlier tonight, AEW provided a quick recap of their third matchup, which took place at NJPW Dominion last year. This was a match for the number one contender for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The Aerial Assassin took the win, and he challenged Kenny Omega for the title at Forbidden Door last year.
He ended up being successful in what many coined as a match-of-the-year candidate.
The fourth installment of this matchup will be the first of its nature that will take place in AEW. After the match was made official tonight, Lance Archer was shown sending a message to Ospreay, as he wished to remind him that he had beaten him before and that he was not worthy of the new American Championship.
It remains to be seen if the 6 ft 8 in star will be able to do so next week.
