First-time-ever match announced, Alberto Del Rio to face familiar AEW competitor

Alberto Del Rio is set to face a popular wrestler who regularly appears on AEW TV. The former WWE World Champion has never locked horns with the said talent inside the ring.

El Hijo del Vikingo is a Mexican pro wrestler, who has been appearing on AEW TV since 2023. He made his debut on the March 22, 2023 edition of Dynamite, where he lost to Kenny Omega.

Alberto Del Rio is popularly known for his time in WWE, where he secured multiple world titles. The veteran's last appearance in the Stamford-based promotion came in August 2016. He is currently working in independent wrestling promotions under the ring name Alberto El Patrón.

AAA President Marisela Peña recently took to X/Twitter to announce the upcoming Guerra de Titanes event scheduled to take place on November 10, 2024. The show is set to be held at the Josué Neri Santos Gymnasium in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Alberto will put his AAA Mega Championship on the line against fellow Mexican, Vikingo, in the main event.

Alberto Del Rio on possibly returning to WWE

Last month, Alberto Del Rio appeared in an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, where he discussed his time in WWE. The 47-year-old disclosed that he had a good relationship with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and would like to return to the organization one day to have a final run.

"I would be lying if I don't [sic] tell you or tell the fans that that's my biggest dream to go back there and have one last run and retire, finally, hanging my boots after a match in the WWE against one of my favorite wrestlers, whoever it is," Alberto said.
