Former AEW champion can be a "top player" in Tony Khan's promotion if he turns heel, says released star

Tony Khan has recruited many talented performers to All Elite Wrestling. Jose the Assistant, who was released from the promotion in April 2024, recently commented on the prospect of a former AEW champion becoming a top star.

The star in question is Sammy Guevara. The three-time TNT Champion hasn't been seen in the promotion since his match against Powerhouse Hobbs. In February 2024, Guevara accidentally broke Jeff Hardy's nose. Tony Khan later suspended him because of the incident. The Spanish God's suspension was seemingly lifted two months ago, but he has yet to return to an AEW ring.

A fan on X/Twitter commented on Jose's recent tweet and asked him to manage The Spanish God in AEW. In response, the former AEW star wrote that Guevara didn't need a manager as he was an excellent in-ring performer who could deliver good promos if given the opportunity.

Jose added that Sammy Guevara would become an even bigger star if he turned heel and joined his wife, Tay Melo, to form a villainous duo in the Tony Khan-led company.

"I think @sammyguevara is a good promo if they allow him to speak, he doesn’t need a manager [in my opinion]. Incredible in-ring talent, very creative and if he had a heel run with @taymelo they can easily be top players in the company."

Sammy Guevara debuts in Tony Khan-led Ring of Honor

This past week's tapings of Ring of Honor saw the debut of AEW star Sammy Guevara. At one point in the show, The Dark Order launched an attack on Dustin Rhodes. Shortly after, the 31-year-old made a shocking appearance and saved The Natural from the assault.
