Former AEW champion disinterested in taking down Jon Moxley
A top AEW star recently claimed that he doesn't want to confront Jon Moxley at the moment. The star being discussed is Powerhouse Hobbs.
The former TNT Champion was one of the rising stars in 2024. However, his push was stalled due to a major injury. He sustained a knee injury back in April when he faced the reigning AEW World Champion on Dynamite. He returned to the promotion a couple of weeks ago and has set his eyes on taking down his former faction, the Don Callis Family.
Meanwhile, Moxley and the Death Riders continue to dominate AEW. The Puryevor of Violence recently retained his title against Orange Cassidy at the Full Gear pay-per-view. The climax of the show saw multiple challengers step up to the champion.
While speaking to Renee Paquette on Close Up, when asked about resentment toward the AEW World Champion, Powerhouse Hobbs claimed that he would deal with Moxley when the right time arrives.
“Respectfully, I’ll deal with that when the time comes," he said. [H/T - WrestleTalk]
Tony Khan names Jon Moxley as the greatest star ever
The AEW World Champion has been the promotion's most prominent figure since the beginning of the company. He is also the only four-time AEW World Champion.
While speaking with CHGO Sports, Tony Khan stated that The Puryevor of Violence is AEW's 'greatest star ever' as he is one of the few cornerstones of the the company.
“Jon Moxley is AEW’s greatest star ever. Jon Moxley’s the four-time world champion. At the beginning of the launch of AEW, we ended our first-ever show with Jon standing atop the poker chips at Double or Nothing, and it’s been that way since," he said.
It remains to be seen who will be the next challenger for the AEW World Champion.
