Former AEW champion possibly confirms departure with a cryptic post
A top AEW star recently shared a cryptic post that hinted at his exit from the company. The star being discussed is Rey Fenix. He and Penta El Zero Miedo are reportedly set to join WWE this year.
The Lucha Bros have been the top tag team in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Before joining the promotion in 2019, they made a massive name for themselves on the independent circuit. The stars were largely featured in the AEW programming during the initial years but have been inactive for a long time.
Specific reports claimed that the former AEW World Tag Team Champions have already signed a new deal with WWE. However, that doesn't seem to be the case, as a recent report stated that Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo are still under the Jacksonville-based promotion's contract.
Fenix recently shared several pictures from his run in the Tony Khan-based promotion with Penta on Instagram. In the caption, the former International Champion wrote, 'Thanks for everything,' possibly confirming their All Elite departure.
"Blessed Wrestling, Thanks for everything," he wrote. [Translated on Google]
EC3 believes the AEW's Lucha Bros will be 'marketing machines' in WWE
Penta and Rey will be heading to the Stamford-based promotion later this year. Many veterans have commented on the WWE bagging the top team.
While speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 claimed that the Lucha Bros will act as WWE's marketing machines.
"You know, probably has that intrigue. Money's probably really good. A marketing machine because, take wrestling away, they're both charismatic individuals with unique looks and outfits and gear and presentation, so immediately they look cool as action figures. They look cool to kids," he said.
It will be interesting to see when the two stars will make their WWE debut.
