Former AEW champion shaken up by traumatic ordeal

A top AEW star opened up about the shocking events that transpired during this week's Dynamite. The star being discussed is Orange Cassidy.

Due to his unique wrestling style, The Freshly Squeezed has been somewhat of a polarizing pro wrestler. Critics have also been harsh on him. Since Jon Moxley's AEW takeover story started, the promotion has pushed Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy to step up.

While young stars like Daniel Garcia and Private Party are trying to stop the chaos, Orange Cassidy wasn't too pleased to lead AEW. On the latest edition of Dynamite, his friend Chuck Taylor was brutally attacked by The Blackpool Combat Club members in the ring and was stretchered out. The show ended with Cassidy looking guilty as he failed to save his friend.

While speaking with Good Karma Wrestling, the former International Champion claimed that he would be getting involved in the ongoing war, regardless of his will.

"After what happened last night, it's been made very clear to me that I think I have no choice in the situation. Before, early in AEW, there was always this thing of 'Oh, he's going to try. He'll care this time.' I don't feel that I have any choice in this matter. I have to fight now. I have to fight. I don't want to, but if the people around me that I care about the most are going to be hurt, then I really have no choice in the matter," he said. [H/T - Fightful]

AEW star Orange Cassidy claims he is not a leader

The former International Champion has been told to step up against Jon Moxley and his faction for weeks. However, he has been reluctant to do so.

When Daniel Garcia and Private Party approached Orange Cassidy a couple of weeks ago about leading the charge, he shut them down.

“Every time I step in the ring with one of those guys, it changes me. I’m no leader. I’m just not that guy.”

It will be interesting to see how things work now that the Freshly Squeezed has joined the babyface team.
