Former AEW champion told to stay away from the company until "absolutely forced" by a court order
Eric Bischoff recently advised Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) to stay away from Tony Khan's AEW. The former AEW World Champion has been absent from weekly programming for a while.
The last time The Salt of The Earth was seen in action was at the All Out pay-per-view, where he defeated Daniel Garcia in a singles match. However, The Dragon Slayer unleashed an attack on MJF after the match. The 28-year-old made his return at WrestleDream and tried to retaliate against Garcia, but Adam Cole stopped him.
It was reported that Garcia attacking Friedman at All Out was booked to write the latter off television. The American Hero was absent from television during September because he was filming a significant role in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie, Happy Gilmore 2. However, the talented star is set to face Roderick Strong in a singles match at Full Gear.
Meanwhile, in a recent episode of the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff advised The Wolf of Wrestling to stay away from the Jacksonville-based company for as long as he could, claiming that Tony Khan's company's current condition could be detrimental to MJF's brand.
“Here’s the other side. Now if I were MJF's agent or manager, I would tell him [to] stay on that movie set as long as you possibly can. Do not get near an AEW camera until you’re absolutely forced to by court order. Because the more he’s involved in what’s going on in AEW right now, the more his stock is going to go down," he said. MJF is set to face Roderick Strong at AEW Full Gear
A few weeks ago, MJF gave Roderick Strong and Adam Cole a set of challenges to complete to earn a match against him at Full Gear. They had to win three consecutive singles matches to punch their tickets to the upcoming event.
Roderick Strong completed his quest by defeating Shane Taylor, The Beast Mortos, and Lance Archer. Meanwhile, Adam Cole faltered at the final hurdle, as he couldn't defeat Konosuke Takeshita after getting past Buddy Matthews and Malakai Black.
As a result, Strong will lock horns with The Salt of The Earth at Full Gear this weekend.
It will be interesting to see what Tony Khan has in store for MJF in the coming weeks.
