Former AEW star reveals if he should have defeated Miro for the TNT Championship
A former AEW star recently addressed the outcome of his TNT Championship match against Miro (FKA Rusev) from a couple of years ago. The name in question is none other than Fuego Del Sol.
The Mexican Luchador was signed to the Jacksonville-based promotion from 2020 to 2023. In 2021, Fuego Del Sol locked horns with then-AEW TNT Champion Miro a couple of times. He even challenged Miro for the title but was unable to dethrone The Redeemer.
On X (Twitter), Fuego Del Sol disagreed with a fan, who stated that the former AEW star should have defeated Miro for the TNT Title. The High Flyer stated that Miro needed the win and also reflected on Sammy Guevara eventually dethroning the erstwhile Rusev.
"No, Miro was on the run of his career! If he didn’t need time off, I don’t think Sammy [Guevara] would have won it so soon. But Sammy was the right guy at that time. Loved that he [Miro] made me look so good that people wanted it, though! Loved working with Miro!" he wrote.

Miro arrived in the Jacksonville-based promotion in 2020, and the former WWE Superstar quickly became a dominant force. He captured the TNT Championship and went on to have a lengthy run with the title.
After losing the title, Miro has not been used in any major feud, and many have wondered why Tony Khan's promotion is not using the former WWE United States Champion.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda's Senior Editor Bill Apter, Miro revealed that he loves the freedom of styles in All Elite Wrestling and explained how it attracted him to the promotion.
“I love the freedom of styles that we have, right? We have people from Mexico, from Japan, from Bulgaria, and from England. You just come in and bring your style and fight the way you want to, which I really [want]. What brought me to this company in the first place is the freedom that you get,” he said. [2:42-3:00]
Miro's last in-ring appearance for Tony Khan's company came at the Worlds End PPV last year. It will be interesting to see if the former WWE Superstar makes his return to AEW TV in the coming days.
