Former AEW World Champion reveals major role outside of wrestling

Several AEW stars are finding success outside the company—and even outside of wrestling—in 2024. As the year draws to a close, Samoa Joe has officially revealed his role in a highly anticipated video game.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an upcoming spin-off of the popular Yakuza/Like a Dragon video game series. The game follows fan-favorite character Goro Majima on a pirate adventure, and Samoa Joe is set to play a major role in the game.

The former AEW World Champion had teased his inclusion in the past, but he's now fully revealed that he will be playing a character named Raymond Law. Samoa Joe took to X (fka Twitter) to introduce the character.

"Allow me to Introduce you. His name is Raymond Law. He is the Pirate king of Madlantis. His will shall not be denied! Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, releasing Feb 21st 2025 on Xbox, Playstation and Steam," wrote Joe.

Samoa Joe isn't the first All Elite star to appear in the popular series, as Kenny Omega was included in the Like a Dragon: Ishin remake that was released in 2023.

Samoa Joe is set to return to AEW soon

It's been almost half a year since fans have seen Samoa Joe. The 45-year-old has been busy with commitments outside the company, but recent reports have indicated that he could be on his way back.

Samoa Joe dropped his World Championship to Swerve Strickland at Dynasty 2024, then briefly partnered with Hook before going on hiatus to film Twisted Metal season two. According to Fightful Select, Joe wrapped up his commitment with Twisted Metal last month and will be able to return to Tony Khan's promotion soon.

It was noted that Joe would have to make media appearances once the season begins airing, but AEW fans should see the legend back in the fold before too long.
